The link between the Battles and the Breheny’s in my family is my grandfather
James Joseph Judge’s – His sister Mary Breheny ‘Judge’ married Timothy Battle from Ireland and they emigrated to Australia. Not sure if they married before they came to Australia or afterwards. I believe they lived at Mount Morgan and Timothy had a pub there, which one I’m not sure about.
The tree lineage goes :
Mary (nee Breheny) married Timothy Battle. Timothy Battle had one older brother James and a sister (unknown) but she could have been a Mary (not sure).
Timothy and Mary had 2 children – James Joseph and Bridgette (‘Briedy’ ) Battle.
- James Joseph Battle was shot down age 29 over France before D-Day.
- Briedy Married Bill O’Dwyer (Also pilot in RAAF) and they had 3 children – Jim, Mary-Rose, Lawrence. (Sylvie Carter’s second cousins).
James Joseph Battle (Timothy’s older brother not son) had 13 children. All boys except for 1 daughter, Hanora O’Grady (nee Battle). She later took the ‘O’ of her surname. She lived near the Wooloongabba in Brisbane City and is buried today at Toowong Cemetry, QLD.
Of the boys I only know that James had a son called Patrick (named after another child that was a triplet and died very young) and Patrick had (2 children) Loretta O’Reagan (nee Battle) and son Brian Battle. Brian is today (2015) living in Toowoomba with wife Margaret.
